Who am I?

Well, that's one good question to start things off with...

Hello there! Howard Heyman is the pen name I've been using for nearly every single one of my outings on the internet, including this website. But please, call me Howard. I consider myself a very dedicated creative person, not only because I love and aspire to write stories, but also because I love analyzing them. Nothing is more important to me than understanding and recognizing the merit and worth of the creators of the media that I enjoy. This is my main purpose when it comes to writing these reviews, and they can be really long and incredibly detailed. I don't want any single aspect of design, be it in concept or execution, to go under my radar. At the same time, I also find it fun, interesting and challenging to try to present my points in a way that's understandable to you, the reader.

I think nothing encapsulates that challenge and creative synergy more than my few videogame analyses. Those are long form,

thesis length critiques, discussions and explanations of some of the best or otherwise most unique games that I've ever played. I consider these to be some of my best works, and if you are interested in content that handles a large amount of ideas or if you want to see what could also be your favorite game deconstructed, analyzed and praised in a lengthy way, then I wholeheartedly recommend that you read those whenever they come out. I don't think I can write an analysis of any game, but whenever I do, you know its going to be something special.

I understand that everyone holds their own opinions when it comes to things, so I ask not to take my word for it, but to try to understand my perspective as well as think about the things that you might not have noticed or understood about the particular work that I am covering. I firmly believe that in regards to art, media and entertainment, things can be more or less than the sum of their parts, so I try not to systematically weigh the absolute value of a certain work, and instead try to understand its values and shortcomings to decide what inherent appeal they may have.

Which brings us to the question, why videogames? Well, I haven't really tried to write about anything else. I also mostly focus on videogames, since they hold my favorite qualities over any other medium.

One other aspect about this website that should interest you besides my reviews is my own "Videogame Hall of Fame", which is a gallery of all my favorite games organized by category, system, etc. If you want some of my personal recommendations that haven't yet become reviews or analyses, then I highly recommend you gave it a shot.

With all that said, I hope you have a good time learning about me, and reading all I have to say. I truly appreciate that you do.
